Thanks for the kind comments and if Claire thinks it looks ok then it can't be bad as she doesn't really see the point in messing with cars does she Dean?

Right guys and girls i've got a bit of an update on the octy, took it off the road to do some work on the old girl, not started yet due to the weather been rubbish and me not having time but plans are to notch the chassis leg as the rubbing is annoying and needs doing as i'm gonna try and go a bit lower Very Happy

and seen as though the drivers side struts coming out for access to notch the leg i thought i may as well fit some new top mounts and bearings as mine are knackered, i've got some polo ones which a few people on edition have fitted as there about half the height of the original octy ones and seen as though i have no more threads left on the coils it seems an ideal way of trying to lower it a bit more without removing helper springs for now Smile

heres a pic of the top mounts

also i got a guy at work to make me up some engine raising blocks after finding a detailed drawing on the net with all the measurements and he did them the same day within an hour and heres a pic of them

also after talking to a couple of guys at work i'm going to get them to fabricate a sump guard for it too seen as though i have access to materials and people with the right skills to do so Very Happy

also i was getting fed up of trying to clean my white carpets and as there was a few oil marks which wouldnt come out i was going to change the carpet for a charcoal coloured one but they are the best part of 200 from the dealers so i thought i'd look into dying them and found autosmart do a carpet dye and thought i'd give it a whirl and the results are pretty good and looks much better Very Happy

and the piece de resistance i also got myself a set of new rims as i've been contemplating it for a long time now but never had the money to get anything plus never really knew what i wanted but liked the look of these rims so thought i'd go for it Very Happy

here's some pics of the new wheels i picked up today

wheels were bought from a guy in lincoln who had them on a passat estate and they are
eta beta porsche 3 piece split rims
    the fronts are 8" et49 with 215/35/18
    the rears are 9.5" et52 with 225/35/18

need to work out best sized adaptors for it too when its not so cold and get them ordered Cool

dont know when i'll get round to doing these bits and pieces but hopefully fairly soon and when i make some progress i'll put some pics up

Been out in the garden this afternoon working out rough sizes for adapters and it looks like i'll need 25mm fronts and 35mm rears,so i'll get some ordered and see how far out i am lol, well while i'd got the wheel up in position i took a few pics to show how the rears look on the car Cool

Cheers Smile and i'll be keeping them white for now Dean as there mint and i've never had white wheels so its a new colour for me too lol and carpet dye is pretty good to be honest,it comes in a gallon container for just over 20 and as my carpets are white it took a few coatsto darken them up but i cant complain at the finish and was easy to spray on its just from a little hand spray bottle Very Happy

Thanks again for the comments and i'm itching to get them on but still need to get other jobs sorted and need a few spare pennies to get the adapters ordered, been searching for some used adapters to save some money but nothing much around at the moment and the ones that are,the people selling dont reply lol, hopefully i'll get out in the garden to do some work whilst i'm off work but the weather sucks so cant really be bothered and by the time the weather improves i'll be back at work with no spare time to do anything Sad

I bought my adapters when I put the teledials on my MkII Golf from a motorsport company based in Birmingham who sell from an eBay shop and they were really good quality and quite a bit cheaper than anywhere else I found. I'll have a hunt back through my old eBay feedback and see whether I can find the name and how much I paid Dan? Leave it with my buddy.

Sorry Dan, I went all the way back through my feedback last night and can't find the details of the company I bought my adapters from, I can only think that they've stopped trading.

Cheers, its hard work been patient and waiting to get the wheels on lol but i'll have to wait until Steve has time to make them and the rear arches are looking a bit worse for wear now as they were done a couple of years ago and the paints been burnt off and the o/s has cracked the filler so they'll need doing again soon Rolling Eyes

good to know you have an arch roller though Smile

Chassis notch was finished last sunday when a mate of mine popped down and welded it Very Happy

and i fitted some small interior lights under the rear grab handles as its pretty dark in the back of the car with tints,i pulled them out of an astra a mate of mine was taking to scrap Cool

Little update but unfortunately its not wheel related as i'm still waiting on adapters Sad

but got the sump guard made and on,just hoping it doesnt catch too much when driving but we'll see, shouldn't be too bad as its only a few mm lower than the lowest point at the wishbone mounts but from that point it angles upwards to the front mounting point which comes down from the chassis leg and then it tucks into the bumper and is screwed to it,hopefully should be ok but if not i'll make some adjustments or just take it off and bin it as it cost me nothing to make and then take my chances without lol

also dropped it down to see how much more lows my work had given me and this was the result with about 25mm of thread left on the coils lol wont get anywhere near this level on the 18's though but i'll see how i get on,i'll just adjust it a bit at a time once the wheels are on and see how it goes
