Some pics from the meet this weekend... Loving how it looks and goes at the moment... but a 2.0 16v on carbs is on it's way though!

2.0l 9a bottom end on engine stand ready for checking, KR head and fast road cams on bench and ready for re-build, R1 fuel pump purchased, custom inlet manifold in progress & stainless exhausts manifold sourced ... so it's just the R1 carbs I need to complete the parts list!

Don't move the towbar, pimp a trailor! a cult festival trailor! for tents n beer n sh*t!

stick a roof rack on top of trailor, fit it with a pair of g60 steelies, spray it same colour as the jetta, SORTED lol

Forgotten how much I love this car. Just so super cool. Jetta's can only get cooler and cooler as you see so few of them about and never any as magic looking as Gee's ride. Hat's off to you big man.

Sarah... that's because it had a Spring Clean to go to All Types! It was pretty grubby inside on the Thursday before! It's a mess again now! Not even emptied the boot of all the toolkits yet!

I generally don't have too many problems with clearance... just got to be careful over speed bumps.

    Roll on the new engine!

Just been through this thread again looking at the pictures... think I'm definitely taking the fairing sticker off. MUCH prefer it plain black with a Cult sticker on it! I knew I didn't really like it... was just trying to kid myself! lol

Well... after having been sat on my drive for 6 weeks... there's some action again.

Put the battery on charge (just in case) the other day and went to start it last night and I was amazed. A few primes of the fuel pump and she started first time! No coughs, no smoke, no rattles... nothing! Very happy!

So, the panels are back from the paint shop... front bumper, rear bumper, bonnet and grille strip. It's still got to go in for the wing and passenger side door bottoms where there's a very small amount of bubbling, but I want to get it done before it gets any worse... then it'll be brill! No more pictures of the dented wing!

    Excuse the phone-cam pics...

Anyway... took the rear bumper off to replace it and cleaned the back panel up (though it didn't need much effort) and was amazed at how clean the old girl is...

and then put the new rear bumper on... without tow bar. Rach and I think it looks weird now as we're so used to seeing it with the tow bar on! Also, it now has the US spec boot panel on...

I think it needs a bigger exhaust now... Wink

    What you all reckon? Better...?

Slowly going back together again... even got front fogs now!

Think I might have serious clearance problems with the new 1-piece Cupra front lower spoiler... what you reckon?

(Excuse the scruffiness of the bumper)

It should all be back together tomorrow... with some different 'borrowed' wheels for E38.

When it's all painted next week, I'll take some new photos pre-E38.

    cheers
