swiftkid wrote:what engine is it? thought yours was already a 1.8t?
and if that is correct why havn't you just gone for an uprated Ko4
turbo or something?
Yep, currently its a 1.8 20v (non turbo) no way to bolt a turbo to
this, it shares virtually nothing with the 1.8t. Its more like the
older 1.8 16v with a 20v head.
vw passion wagon wrote:if its a apu engine ive got a remaped ecu for sale
No, its an AGU, besides it will need a custom remap once the turbo is on i think.
sarah wrote:cool, are you fitting it yourself dan??
Yea, doing it all myself. A couple of mates are helping when the time comes to get it in the car.
dsmithmobile wrote:Good luck with the conversion
Thanks!
Bit of an update. Everything is off the engine (wiring loom, hoses, vac lines etc..) Gave it a real good scrubbing today and removed the cam cover to inspect the cams and polish the cover, along with the intake manifold. Tomorrow im gonna start painting the block and gearbox and polishing the bits that need polishing. Ive ordered most of the new bits, injectors, fuel pressure reg, intercooler, S3/TT MAF, Samco hoses, and of course an ATP Garret GT2X eliminator turbo kit and more bits i cant think of. This is pretty much the smallest 'big' turbo kit available, due to wanting to keep it a reasonable budget build and this takes the engine internals to its limits, any bigger and id need forged rods and pistons which would also crank the price up, but i think this power should be enough for me for a while lol...
Holy crap batman!

Glad someone thinks so! Might be in the car in a month or 2. Need to get some stuff sorted before it goes in.
Well...a few more photos of how it looks now, all murdered out! Probably last update for a bit, playing the waiting game now!

Re: My Audi A3...Project....whatever.
yes the wheels went to a mk4 golf over on edition.
what paint are you using dan? i need to paint my engine and ancillaries whilst its all out.
wish i had a nice flat drive to work on a car, its been absolute murder getting an engine out in a single garage with a sloped driveway without an engine hoist

Re: My Audi A3...Project....whatever.
Yea, on a silver golf somewhere, nowhere local though.
I used halfords high temp engine paint, satin black, worked really well, better than i thought! Haha..that does sound like fun. Ill be trying to get an engine hoist from somewhere, but a small one that i can get into my car and bring home!
What you doing with your engine?

Really! Cool, that would be ideal. How much do you want for a week or
2, maybe 3, depends what im doing with the engine bay paint!

Nice! That would go pretty well! Sound good too. Whats your daily?
I stole that one from work! Picked the engine up from leeds in a van, didnt really think about how to get it out. Got home, then decided to go to work and steal it for an hour, problem is its a massive 3 ton rated thing, which will only fit in a van, which i dont have no more lol..

Re: My Audi A3...Project....whatever.
Thanks people!
I have K03 turbo, manifold, some random brackets, coolant hoses, turbo hoses, injectors, vacuum hoses, airbox and probably a few other little bits.
Thanks! Im aiming for 300hp and that'll do me i think! I dont think my car would know what to do with any more haha! Or myself!

Re: My Audi A3...Project....whatever.
Ohh yea its in now Havnt updated this for a while. A few late nights and a couple of little problems, but nothing too bad. Just a few more little things to sort out on it like a remap, 440cc injectors, put the 6 speed box in, and slight colour scheme change and a bit of decluttering and it'll be how i want it.
Winter mode now though...new wheels are getting painted...for next year hopefully...
Thanks
