Heres my mk2, gone through quite a lot in my 2 years of ownership, its probably easier to list the things I haven't replaced, but its getting there now. Got got a new 2 litre 9a 16v with a flowed head fitted last month after the last engine gave up, hopefully third time lucky with this one Laughing

    Looks nice fella.

What sort of power is the 9a 16v pushing out like that?

ta for the comments Smile It does shift fairly well, I had it on the rollers just over a week ago and made 170 bhp, which I was well chuffed with, saying the engine had only done 1300 miles! I'm hoping for a bit more out of it as I rack up some more miles

hard to comment on the torque, as my figure was down as the engine is still so tight, will have to put another 10k miles or so before I find out. The head does definately help at high rpm though, pulls cleanly to 7k now

My little 1.8 KR pulls cleanly to 7k (though I don't do it very often!)

I'm looking for a 9a 2.0 litre bottom end if anyone knows of one going...

You still on Fuel Injection, or are you on carbs with 170bhp?

nope, still running good old kjet, with the WUR mod done, carbs would sound great, but too much hasle, and I can still get 40mpg if I drive very carefully!! Have a look around for a 6a out of an audi 80/90 as well, if you can find one they are likely to have had an easier life, then everything swaps over from your kr. great thing about the 2 litres is that it pulls strong from 2.5-3k, so much less effort

Hi mate, very nice motor, clean and simple. Was this the red golf that was featured in PVW mag around 2000ish, the issue with an orangy red MK2 on the front that had OZ 5 spokes on the front cover and a private plate (something like A20 RUF)
A red MK2 was featured in that edition that looked just like yours, it had red recaro seats from a rover turbo too, looked great ?
