Post by paulshears Thu Sep 17, 2009 2:35 pm

    Collecting this over the weekend

    mk2 Golf 2.9 VR6 A

I've been thinking about getting a mk2 GTI 8v & doing a 2.8 VR6 conversion myself...... but bought this instead

    2.9 VR6 from a Corrado mk2 Golf 2.9 VR6 Icon_wink
    Widetrack running gear, 288mm front disc's & 5 stud
    Coilovers
    Corrado dash
    G60 arches
    audi door handles
    stainless exhaust
    Early 16 valve interior

Got a few little problems to sort on it

Paul... nice looking motor. Some nice mods on it to make up for the Jetta front end (don't know why, but not a fan of Jetta fronts on Golfs) like the door handles, etc. Bet it goes well!

I have a spare set of Jetta front lights... Wink

Wheels rub like mad mk2 Golf 2.9 VR6 Kopfschuettel ..... there only 8mm different offset from the VR rims...... there only staying on till I re-paint the VR rims

Corrado dash conversion needs finishing off....... I may convert back to a Golf dash if a cheap complete car comes up locally

    mk2 Golf 2.9 VR6 Jkguighygbu007

Seats are pretty good condition considering there out of an earlier Golf....... they might not be staying though..... got some black "Raceland" seats

Cut the metal arch behind the front G60 arches back to sort the scubbing problem....... still catch a little sometimes

Fixed the blowing exhaust....... de-cat to straight through centre section had been badly welded, now a lot better welded

You wanna get some slimmer tyres on those rims... they're like balloons on a Mk2 - that'll sort your rubbing problems... I just happen to have to Toyo Proxes T1's in 195/45 fitment if you need them.

Will also dig out Jetta lights tonight... sorry!

Sticking to 205/50..... suspension is already to stiff really... lower profile will only make it stiffer

Been sorting some more "problems" with the car today

The sump has suffered a bit of damage before I got the car (lowness)...... has a small leak

Tried to order the following from VW Priory Park

Oil, Filter, Sump, Sump Plug & Gasket

All coming tomorrow........ Apart from the sump...... back order, available late October

Old lambda probe looked a bit passed it, so got a new one from Auto Electric Services...... £67..... Thought it would be far more

Got Matt to secure the front headlamp panel & try to straighten the bumper a bit (low on the driver’s side)...... the car's had a bump in the past, mainly on the driver’s side, so this doesn’t help things

Headlight panel is better...... but the bumper still isn’t great

Found a leaky oil cooler pipe (has a air to oil cooler)...... going to make some stainless steel over braided ones at work

I changed the front headlight bulbs from the yellow/blue can't see in the dark..... To white can see in the dark...... still need the headlights aligning though

Used a short silicone pipe & alloy jointer to get the cone filter further forward in the bay...... then made up a bracket to secure it (was loose in the bay before)

Secured the alarm in the bay...... that was loose in the bay too

Strut brace was making it difficult to get the header tank cap off...... so we "lowered" the header tank, only by 10mm or so....... now I can get the cap off easier

Ordering some new exhaust rubbers tomorrow...... current ones are past it

Need to sort the reversing lights...... they don't work at the mo

Indicators sometimes flash fast when turning right (like there’s a bulb out)...... must be a bad connection somewhere
Sounds like I'm having major problems........ But there all easy to sort & nowt like the problems the Sierra gave me

    More faults found

drivers door sometimes doesn't lock (sorted now )

flange ontop of the radiator leaks a bit..... new O Ring may solve that

    ....

Raising the suspension a bit tonight (if the rain holds off).... hopefully a bit more travel might soften the suspension a bit.... fingers crossed

Front drivers side was the problem light
Pulled the fusebox out while trying to find why this is happening...... what a rubbish job
Could'nt find any loose or broken wires, so bodged it by joining into the side repeater

    Okay fella.

Here's the pics I sent anyway... found there was a chip in one. You'll need to use your existing adjusters too as some are missing. The body and lenses are fine though! Good enough for some joey tinting sport!
