Had the car about 2 and a half years (maybe more like 3)
Bought it as a MOT failure for £165 from Jacko’s scrap yard in Beverley…..maybe a little expensive, but is was the right model, had just had a full service & a full new exhaust fitted
It had failed the MOT because the garage couldn’t get the rear brakes to work properly
Turns out the was an adjuster missing from the rear shoes…..£2 for a new one from VW….I found the missing adjuster in the car at a later date, in the passenger side door pocket & I’ve no idea how it ended up there
It also needed a suspension spring, so I got a set from Euro Car Parts for about £55
Replaced the missing wing mirrors with standard mirrors
Pulsar GTIR Bonnet scoop had already been removed before I got it…..so the filler left on the bonnet had to be removed and the holes that had been drilled in the bonnet needed filling
“Bad boy” bonnet extension got ripped off and binned…..had to get a grille cos that was missing
there was upside down Shitron AX spoiler on the roof when I got it (removed before the photo)…..it was held on with wood screws, so those holes needed filling and the roof needed painting
I got Matt to sort the various holes, fit Astra bonnet vents, paint the bonnet black and paint the chequers on the roof
Kept the M3 style skirts…..wish I hadn’t cos I can’t easily get a trolley jack under it when its on 13’s
Matt sorted the bucket seats and modded some standard sub frames to suit…….
rear seats etc. have been binned
on 3 wheels on its first track day
About 2 years ago Matt was given some orange paint to try out…..it’s the same type paint as used on Dyno-Rod vans
Paint pretty faded now and needs repainting…..£60 a litre & that’s trade price………Clean for the first time in ages so took a picture
Lyno (or however its spelt) in the back to cover the dints in the floor
13’s for the road…..ATS Manta wheels
On Manta 14’s for track days, still to low geared as it hit’s the rev limiter at 100mph in fourth
Bit mucky after the track day
Lincoln VW meet
Tinted the headlights and indicators this weekend just gone (pics to follow)
Jobs to do next
Rip the side skirts off
Repaint
No stickers going on this time
Black vinyl door cards
Paint the 13 inch ATS wheels black
Lower the buckets a little….mod the sub frames
Try and find a private plate
Get rid of some more weight…..sold my fibreglass bonnet to Heartagram DOH!
Move the battery
Smaller washer bottle
Very hard poly suspension bushes…..maybe even aluminium
