    Spawns ride Empty Spawns ride

    Post by Spawn_of_Satan_666 Tue Dec 18, 2007 4:04 pm

I've had my Golf since early September this year and i love it to bits. I purchased the car for just over £1000, with a book of reciepts for over £4000!! It has a 1900 volkspares 8v engine in it, which has been tuned by Jabba Sport. I have a rolling road print out for May this year, which shows 164bhp! Not bad for an 8v.

Anway, this is what it looked like when i first got it home.

The body work is pretty clean, just for a few spots of rust coming threw. Unfortunately its had a o/s/r 1/4 at some point at that panel is starting to rust. My dad works in a body shop, so i'll be getting discount next year when it has a full respray!

Thanks for the comments. I'm really please with the car and it really does fly, well up to a tonne anyway.

I've done a little bit of work to th car since i've had it, but the weather and being my daily ride have stopped me stripping it apart!

So far since September i have fitted new rear lights, changed the wheels, fitted spacers on the rear and a couple of cosmetic goodies for the interior.

    Original rear lights

As you can see, the front bumper was a bit wonky. So just after a took these pictures i took the front bumper off, to find the bumper bracket bent. Well with the help of a heat gun and a hammer the front bumper now sits straight Very Happy .

The car is really going to start to transform in the next couple of months. I've got it booked in for a respray, but i'm keeping the colour the same. During the respray the arch mouldings and side skirts are going to be colour coded. I'm leaving the door mouldings black though, as like i've said this is my daily driver and i need some protection in the dreaded car parks.

I've purchased a half roll cage off ebay a couple of weeks ago and am waiting for delivery, so that'll be fitted during the respray. Also the arches are going to be trimmed as i'm planning a good slammin. I have been looking at coilovers, but i'm really not sure what to go for. I'm looking for at least a 70mm drop and i want them to be fully adjustable. Anyone got any recommendations?

Both my door pockets are going to be coloured coded and my centre consol during the resparay. In fact i'm working on the centre consol, trying to fit a gauge plate for three gauges where the ashtray should normally go.

I've already managed to get some mk3 GTi calipers and carriers, will be getting rallye black diamond discs shortly. Then i'll just need m2 16v hubs and a master cylinder, hopefully that'll add to the stopping power.

Hopefully all this will be done by april for the first festival show at santa pod.

Its going to be a busy few months!!

Thanks, thats the idea. I know its not to everyones taste, but it brings a smile to my face.

Don't get me wrong i love most mk2's, but i do get sick of seeing the same mods done over and over again.

    Spawns ride Empty Winter Wheels

    Post by Spawn_of_Satan_666 Thu Dec 20, 2007 9:45 am

Well after just one week of driving on the salty roads, my alloys are getting seriously scratched. The outer high polish edge has started to go dull, so i've decided to get some wheels for the rest of the winter.

    Picked these up today.

    Spawns ride 20122007324

    Spawns ride 20122007323

Got a set of four, but these are the worst two.

The are seriously dirty and a little rusty, but they have never been curbed (silver lining to every cloud). I do need to replace two tyres though. My dad has ordered two new tyres through his work and they'll set me back £21 each.

So i reckon, the wheels, two new tyres and paint and materials they'll set me back about £100. Not too bad i reckon and if i decide to sell them come spring, i'll make a tasty profit!!

If anyones interested what i'm doing to them, i'm painting them like my last set. Satin black, but with a painted outer edge not polished.

Just a little update. The wheels are coming along nicely, though very slowly (as i'm doing all the work by hand) and i haven't any skin left on my knuckles!!
