after alot of thought and messing around with the idea of a g60 lump i have decided to go down a different route. i have fianally got chance to start work on her again at long last! the tax and mot ran out on it few months ago so i thought well lets make it rapid!
so i have decided on as follows, **(deep breath)**
mk2 git 1.8 16v lump thats been bored out to a 1.9, new pistons (forged) new rings, rods, complete new water pump, oil pump, slave shaft/seals/sprocket, port polished gasflowed head, bigger valves, ground back valve guids, knife edged inlets and outlets, head has been skimmed for max compression, kent cams, 4 branch manifold, inlet manifold to accept twin webber carbs DCOE 40's, over sized chocke rings, uprated carb jets, drilled and grooved brakes, brand new wilwood calipers, rebuilt gearbox with a nice twist in the ratios!
new full roll cage, car has been stripped, and im having a measure up for a pair of alliminuim bucket seats to keep the weight down.
most of this is still on the side awaiting to be fitted lol, i have taken afew pics of whats been accouring and the progress of the project. i thought i would be easier if i added it to this thread so people could refresh their memorys of whats happend over that last year or so.
right enough of me blabbing on, here are some pics, enjoy!
engine
stripped down, cleaned and just come back from its bore out
new shiney things! lol
box,
bit more paint
new uprated seals
new shiney things! lol
removed sump and ad a play about
had a clean up
mmmmm....yummmmyyyy, thinks abit of water got in there!
thats better!
more paint
removal of the valaves, all 16 of the buggers!
early stages of porting and knife edging
ground back guides on both inlets and outlets
all outlets one completley ground back, look how much the valve guides stick out and reduce the airflow.
inlets and outlest ported out
using a tecniuque called "flappy paper" i took the rough edges out form the porting
ploish time! only polish the outlets , dont do the inlets as you will cause condensing on the inlets and moisture will seep in your engine.
final polish!
i will get more pics as soon as i complete the jobs, well try to lol, i have a habbit of just getting things done! lol
