Heya everyone, ive been busy hording parts over the last few months to fit to my car, hopefully in time for Elsecar. Thought id put together a little build thread..
Heres how it started life, about the height of a monster truck, covered in ugly mouldings and badges..
An afternoon with a hairdryer and tar remover later..
YAY! lol
sanded the rusty calipers and drums and painted
Debadged the bugger..
And sat it on its a**e..Took about 20 mins to do the rear end, and about 2 hours a side on the front, due to using the rubbishist spring clamps in the world.
Looks alright, lacking in the stance department though...
Set of Steffan BCW'S, in 14" x 8"
Drove To London to collect these from a guy from Edition 38
Polished FK strut brace
MK5 all red real lights, still to be fitted
A momo team 280mm wheel, makes it feel like a go-cart whith the coilies now!
CDA carbon induction kit (also yet to be fitted)
Trial fitment of the wheels revealed that the arches would indeed have to be flaired and rolled if i wanted to have it at my desired height..
However i decided to fit the rubber before arch work and see how it sat.
Took my tyres for the rubber to be fitted, and fitted the front seats of my interior and stearing wheel (leaving the back ones out until ive finished ferrying around parts)
Right, new pics...
Dropped it another 20mm to suit the new wheels abit better... not particually looking forward to speed bumps now...
Stance..
And now a few for the haters, i dont care what anyone thinks of these next few, i personally love it
Let me know what you think, was thinking to coming to a few of your meets over summer, there isnt much of a dub scene atall in york.
I spoke to Chris from Widewheels.com, now, Bandedsteels.com, and after a few texts and bouncing a few pics around I took my car over to lancashire where Chris started the proces of rolling and flairing all four arches, by about 25mm all round.
Here he is hard at work on my rear arches..
Took the car to have it painted locally at York Auto Bodyshop, who did an amazing job giving it a half respray, as the paint had come off the arches during the flaireing process.
Hers's the arch prior to flairing and painting.
And after flairing and painting...
Im as partial to abit of poke as the next dubber, but after hearing internet tales of 3 points and car empoundment I decided it would be best to be on the safe side, and I didnt fancy having my tyres ripped to shreads!
Popped out this afternoon as the sun came out for abit with my mate dan to take some snaps of the car and have a little drive...
Let me know what you think..
Few rollin...
Rear doorcards still need retrimming, i ran out of material and time, as ISTS and Elsecar are this weekend!
Will be done after!
One or two more pics here, No new work since the last pics, Ive bought some more material to trim the rear cards and I fitted a sub and amp a few days before Elsecar. (wiring to be tidied)
On the way to ISTS..
And a few on saturday at ISTS...
And here it is the day after, after Id had 3 hours of sleep in a field at Elsecar '09!
Saw your stand at ISTS, some amazing cars on it
