Hello everyone,
I have decided to put my new build thread here as i appreciate the comments of the users of this site a lot more than the local ones down here in Norwich.
My latest acquisition is a 1979 Florida blau mk1 golf.
It a low spec model so comes complete with small back interior, single drivers side mirror and a single pod dash.
So far the 1L engine has been removed and most of the harness pulled back.
The car is solid and an absolute steal at £400.
The plans are to fit a clean slightly detailed polo gt engine in as this wont require any engine mount mods on the chassis legs.
The polo donor car has been stripped and the engine is sat on a stand at a mates barn ready to be rebuilt.
the engine harness is to be routed through the inner wing and will be extended so it routes nicely under the gearbox and chassis leg to hide it away.
I'm leaving the og paint on the car and will be running a miss match genuine passenger wing and boot lid in dark blue as these are the only areas that had a bit of rust.
I will be ressurecting the 13x9 slotmags from the matt black loon - if any of you can remember that!
basically its gonna be slammed - a bit ratty looking with a nice detailed engine bay.
The idea is to eventually fit a G40, but there is plenty of time for that.
Anyhoo, enough chatter, here are some pics of the slam panel taking shape.
Cheers
More to follow
Plan is to have it done in plenty of time to drive out to Bugspain again in 2010. this year saw the first Bugspain and i can say truthfully that it was an amazing roadtrip and well worth the drive.
Oh yeah, next tuesday (5th Jan) i take delivery of a 1972 type 3 varient squareback!, thats will look lovely next to my '65 beetle haha
cheers
