    Post by marc-jerryatric Mon Apr 30, 2007 3:36 pm

Hi all, i went to summer nights yesterday, in my new motor, and saw people with t shirts and flyers in there car so i signed up, my car is a (at the moment) standard A4 tdi 90hp model, i bought it 2 weeks ago, and love it, i've put german plates on it so far, and have just bought some 18in rs4's, in a few weeks when i've got a bit more money i'll be ordering coil overs for it, angel eyes and i think a bra, this is my second Vag motor, i had a mk2 golf gti when i was 19, i sold that last year when i was out of work and i knew i had to have another VAG, i always liked audis so thought i'd try be a little different, i will be doing some tuning as and when i have time/money, i may even put the car on the drag strip at york this weekend for a laugh, as my dads drag motor is out of action and i want to go anyway (we run a 1968 plymouth roadrunner into the 9's on 98 octane unleaded with no nitrous or any power adders)

Cheers guys, we ran 9.2 with the car with a smaller motor on the gas last year but it went bang, the cam was in 3 lumps, we were at santa pod at easter with the new pump gas motor and blew 1st gear out of the box and still ran a bes of 9.86 launching in second gear, the car has run 8's in florida before we got it and it will again soom hopefully

i will also try get my mate to sign up, if not i'll get some pics of his mk1, me and another mate turned it up last year and thought of him straight away, so my mate bought it and he snapped his hand off when he saw it, it was totaly standard 1.3 a reg, its been stripped totally, loads of new sheet metal rolled arches etc, just being painted, the inside is in body colour and the outside should be done in the next few weeks, he's spent a fortune on it, schmidt th's, chrome everything, this is going to be something special when its done i've said i'll help him get it done, we're going all out to debut it at e38 this year

bit of both, but we've gove from running 120+ octane race fuel at £140 for 5 gallon and nitrous at £10 per ld so about £60 per run to running 98-99 octane ordinary unleaded at about £5 a gallon so each run is only costing about £3, the car is actually for sale as we have a full tube chassis all out race car, just having the finnishing touches added to it at the chassis shop, then it off for paint and we'll be on with putting the motor me blew up last year back together last year but with better heads and a bigger cam, we should be making in the region of 1000hp as were switching to running on methanol as its cheaper and makes more power, the pump gas motor we are running at the moment is the 1st race engine me and the old man have built between us from scratch, we have rebuilt motors before but we spec'd the cam etc for this the heads alone were the best part of £4000, when we get it all dialled in we're guessing it will run around the 9.5 region so will be making around 800 hp, and before anyone says it no i'm not rich, my parents aren't rich, i aren't being bank rolled by anyone other than myself, my audi will be done as and when i have money/time, i can do quiet a lot but i will be farming bits of work out, sorry for the rant but i know it's a mis-conception people get when they see young people in nice cars

Hey Marc, your old mans dragster is the absolute nuts - love it. Massive respect for getting stuck in and doing the engine build yourself on such a wild machine - wish I knew where to start. My dad used to do the commentating at York Drag Strip and some other racing circuits many moons ago. Take it easy and look forward to seeing your A4 as and when you've got the readies to sort it.
