    Project J'ettam Empty Project J'ettam

Post by Geeman Fri May 11, 2007 3:53 am

Okay, here's my new little toy.

It's a '92 Jetta 1.8 GL with 184k on the clock! Still drives really tight, and the gearbox is really nice. Anyway, all I've done so far is quickly clean the outside, black the black bits, add clear indicators and tint the rears, drop it 60mm and add my Audi A3 rims...

Doesn't look too bad for a poor man's Golf. I'm well chuffed with it. The paint is pretty good, but there's stone chips and it's not the shiniest in the world, so there's some work to do there. The starter motor makes a HORRIBLE noise which needs looking at and the engine has a funny noise... but with 184k, what do you expect. Have a spare GTI 8v engine floating around... so may rebuild that and put that in at some point.

    I love it.

Then I was thinking about sourcing a de-badge'd grille... what do you think?

    Project J'ettam Badglessoy8

I quite like it with the badge still there...

Tow-bar staying on (for now)... big hole in rear bumper, so it's covering that up until I get a replacement!

Keeping the badge too. Until I can fathom out a cool way of doing something else...

1st on the list of priorities (now that the basic looks are sorted) is sort out the oily bits. You'll understand why when you hear it on Sunday.

Paul... already got my eyes on some brake-ducts on Ebay.

Was thinking tinted headlights too... but how or where from?

Loving the wheels myself, but wish they were an inch bigger!

Thanks for the positive comments though guys! Very Happy

Giles, tinting your own lights is pretty easy........

i've only ever done one set (mk3 Polo)

took one night & i've never had any prob's with them

they never get water in the & the car past MOT with them fitted

p.s. your best to get a spare set of lights and do those.....incase you crack a lense while prizing them apart

Deano... trading a single light Golf grille for a badgless single light grille with Sam on Sunday... so may dabble with that and see how it looks...

Paul... will try and source a set of lights and have a play them too.
