    Kevin - Gf's Polo MK2 Empty Kevin - Gf's Polo MK2

    Post by Kevin20v Sun Apr 20, 2008 3:59 am

Last saturday we picked up Linnie's Polo mk2, bought it of a good friend which had done lot's of maintenance on it in the past few years.

Officialy it's a 1.0l on registration, in reality it's a 1.3 NZ so cheap to insure but still a little go Laughing
It's lowered 40 and 50mm, I want to have coils but they are way to expensive Rolling Eyes

    here are a few pics:

At arrival at my friend's parents:

In the back I've even placed 1.5cm spacers! Shocked

Yesterday I immediately fitted a GT gaugetrim (redstripe) and a wolfsburg logo in the Momo steering wheel (it used to have an alfa romeo logo), and offcourse placed a sony mp3 cd player!

Also polished the complete car with Meguiars, and boy did it need it, don't think this ride had a polish in 22 years?

It's way to ugly but that makes it cool Laughing

I'm propably going to cut off the exhausts endtip and replace it by this one, since I'm making a new endtip for the mk1!

No doubt that it won't stay standard for long! Looks like a good solid base for a winner.

    Thanks guys!!

This weekend I've removed all the rust, painted some parts, removed some dents, painted the bumpers and trim with bumperspray, removed the sidetrim on the doors and panels, etc. etc.

So my fingers don't have any skin left I've lost a lost a "stone" in weight but the polo at least looks much better!

I've discussed with the gf what colour it should be after repainting it, it's propably going to be white or Imola yellow Very Happy
After I've painted the cab I'm going to look around for some nice panels without all the dents and dings...

Pics of this weekend's work will follow

    Thanks JonJon!!

Ok so here are a few pics of some of the things I've already done.

Fitted new 4 way xplod speakers to go with the headunit, at least it's better than nothing Wink
    Kevin - Gf's Polo MK2 015

Mounted a new radiator since the old one was a bit leaky!
    Kevin - Gf's Polo MK2 016

painted the space in between the 2 windows black, think it looks nice and the original paint was damaged and rusted.
    Kevin - Gf's Polo MK2 017

and the last pic for today, here you can see the side trim removed and the fendertrims repainted!
These next few days i'm also going to redo the bumpers!
