My Anniversary GTi - Update - New Rimmage Empty My Anniversary GTi - Update - New Rimmage

Post by Stan. Mon Mar 19, 2007 11:45 am

Posted this same thread on Demon so some of u may have already seen it!! I never really got a thread going before so here it is Very Happy
I bought this 52 plate 25th Anniversary GTi (pd150) in June 05 with 32k on the clock and loved it Cool Left it standard for ages apart from some audio gear.

My Anniversary GTi - Update - New Rimmage Newvbb

Only problem was the R32 xenons that the last owner had fitted had been badly bodged and the loom was butchered and they kept blowing bulbs and fuses Mad

My Anniversary GTi - Update - New Rimmage Lights1

After hours of messing around i cudnt get them sorted so they went on ebay and i got a set of black angel eyes which i think suit it much better Cool

My Anniversary GTi - Update - New Rimmage Bevrd4
My Anniversary GTi - Update - New Rimmage Bevrd1
Everything stayed standard for a few months but then i started buying PVW again and felt the urge to change stuff!
First was the usual lettering from the rear and then i had the bumper and bonnet notches filled and got a debadged grill...

My Anniversary GTi - Update - New Rimmage Halfords
My Anniversary GTi - Update - New Rimmage Vbbsn9

The BBS RCs on the anni's are a great looking wheel IMO but the laquer peels and they start to rot Crying or Very sad I wanted to get them off and refurbed to the orignal finish but more hard-wearing (still cant find a company who will do it!)

My Anniversary GTi - Update - New Rimmage Picture025

So i bought some RS4 copies off the bay with new Toyos for a very reasonable price Very Happy

My Anniversary GTi - Update - New Rimmage Newrs4

    Along with some jamex coilovers...

My Anniversary GTi - Update - New Rimmage Jamex

And sat it a few inches lower Very Happy Very Happy

My Anniversary GTi - Update - New Rimmage Vbbrs4c

Mid-summer 06 the turbo blew Surprised Crying or Very sad Mad which apparently is a fairly common fault on the pd150 engines Rolling Eyes The blower's internals had completely collapsed and there was about 1.5 inches of lateral travel on the spindle Surprised

My Anniversary GTi - Update - New Rimmage Blownturbo

It was out of warranty so i had to fork out for a new unit plus fitting which skinted me and left with no car for a few weeks Crying or Very sad Anyway, got it back eventually and everything seemed fine.
Pic taken by Paul on Dean's camera at one of the Demon meets:

My Anniversary GTi - Update - New Rimmage Dvwnov06

Only thing i have done since is play around with a can of red tinting spray and some non-GTi spec rear lights. Look a bit "cleaner" but still not sure...

My Anniversary GTi - Update - New Rimmage Newlights3
    One of each:
My Anniversary GTi - Update - New Rimmage Newlights2
My Anniversary GTi - Update - New Rimmage Newlights1

They look different anyway - so many mk4s have either the UK or US or euro GTi rears...

Ive got some future plans including a flushed tailgate and im redoing the bonnet as the filler has sunk slightly. I'll try keeping this thread up2date! Very Happy

    Comments welcome!

Ive had the BBS RCs sat around at home for months and not done anything with them. All the wheel refurbers ive spoke to said they cant get them back to the same polished finish Sad

So i was thinking bout getting them done black... ive never really been a fan of black wheels on black cars but have to say Deano's black Merc rims look awesome Twisted Evil

My Anniversary GTi - Update - New Rimmage Suspension9-23003

Would look like this ^^ but more glossy & obviously ona black car - might get black centres too.
    Wot you reckon??

I like black wheels, think they look cool, when i had mine re-furbed i was going to go fully black but bottled it cos i thought it might be too much black on my car but they need doing again now so fully black is what i'm swaying towards as i fancy a change
