Polo Coupe.... 0-60 in 7.929 & 16.410 quarter mile

my gold mk1 Golf needed to be finished for the PPC Magazine Challenge at York Raceway on 14th June........i've hardly started on it

i should never had sold the orange Polo Coupe

so.....i've bought our Matt's Polo Coupe



it already has some performance mod's on it

full stainless Powerflow exhaust,
Lowered 40mm,
Gas shocks,
Vented front disks & Golf GTI calipers,

plan is to fit my 1.4 ABD/GT motor to it, strip the interior and fit my bucket seats

Yup, only a ickle bit though. Didn't think it was on the way there, but on the way back it was a struggle keeping up! Especially when it started to rain. Gave up as my wipers dont do sh*t!

been thinking about buying it for a while

actually works out cheaper buying Matt's car than buying a cheap standard car & modding it (cos i'd have to buy shocks, springs, exhaust & re-con my calipers)

i know it's a good car too, cos it sailed through the last couple of MOT's

toms caddy doesnt have a ginner driver

stuck my wheels on & stuck some amber indicators in


putting my bucket seats once there cleaned next week

Engine swap

Cleaned the flakey paint off the block



Pulled the head & box off my 1.4 ABD/GT engine (our Matt‘s replacing the valve stem oil seals & polish/port matching the head for me)



Cleaned & painted the gearbox

i've spent the past couple of nights sorting the block/box cleaned, painted & stuck back together



back in the car



got the main fuel pump changed to a higher pressure GT spec one.......rubbish job, petrol all down my arms

Matt's been porting, port matching & polishing the exhaust ports of my cylinder head.........he's grinding the valves in tomorrow and taking it to get skimmed & cleaned tomorrow

fitting new valve stem oil seals in the head......should solve the smoke from the exhaust in the upper end of the rev range

will it be done for the weekend paul?
